Phoenix was a false vampire bat in the Underworld. She was larger than Goth and had black teeth made of obsidian to cut the chain/vine that bound her workers. Goth described her has having "savage eyes", "muscular shoulders", and a "mighty crest of fur atop her skull".
She ran the mines in the underworld. She found Goth and made him work in the mines. After some time, Goth's charisma wins her over while Goth is impressed by her power. She hopes that Goth will accept her as his mate when they return to the upper world.
